Kid Rock-Featured Freedom Fest Canceled After VIP Ticket Sales Fall Far Short

A conservative political festival set to feature Kid Rock has been canceled just days before it was scheduled to take place after organizers sold only six of the $1,000 VIP tickets they were counting on to finance the otherwise free event.

Patriots Day Freedom Fest had been scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26 at organizer Eric Deters’ farm in Morning View, Kentucky, roughly 25 miles south of Cincinnati. General admission and parking were free, with Deters instead planning to fund the event by selling approximately 100 premium packages at $1,000 apiece. According to Deters, only six had been purchased when he called off the event.

That means the paid VIP tier generated about $6,000 against a model designed to produce roughly $100,000 in revenue. Importantly, the six-ticket figure applies only to the premium packages: because general admission was free, it does not indicate that only six people had registered or planned to attend.

Deters announced the cancellation in a Facebook video Monday, saying his plan had been to cover the event’s costs through purchases from roughly 100 affluent people with whom he regularly interacted. The event’s economics became untenable when nearly all of those expected purchases failed to materialize, according to his account.

“I am never ever, ever, ever, ever doing this event again. Ever,” Deters said in announcing the cancellation. He also criticized the wealthy contacts he had expected to support the event, saying, “Rich people, as a whole, suck.”

Deters has pushed back on suggestions that the cancellation demonstrated a broader lack of interest in the event, instead characterizing the decision as a financial one tied specifically to the VIP funding plan. He also said Kid Rock was not responsible for the cancellation.

Kid Rock, Dog the Bounty Hunter Among Scheduled Guests

Promotional materials for the 2026 Freedom Fest listed Kid Rock alongside U.S. Rep. James Comer, Republican congressional candidate Ed Gallrein, Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman and Fox News contributor Joe Concha. Rock was scheduled as a speaker, rather than performing.

The first Patriots Day Freedom Fest was held in 2022. A planned 2023 edition did not take place after then-former President Donald Trump withdrew from the event, according to Deters. Freedom Fest returned in 2024 with Donald Trump Jr. among its speakers, while previous editions have also featured Eric Trump, Candace Owens, Kimberly Guilfoyle and Tomi Lahren.

Past editions reportedly attracted thousands of attendees, making this year’s problem less straightforward than a conventional festival that simply failed to sell enough general-admission tickets. Instead, the 2026 edition depended heavily on a small number of high-dollar buyers to subsidize free attendance for the broader audience.

The reports reviewed by TicketNews did not specify how refunds would be handled for the six $1,000 VIP packages already sold.

Kid Rock Has Faced Other Ticketing Headlines in 2026

The cancellation is unrelated to Kid Rock’s separate Rock The Country touring festival, but it follows another 2026 ticketing story involving the singer.

In April, Rock The Country offered discounts of as much as 50% on general admission passes across its remaining festival stops. The promotion offered $59 single-day passes and $99 weekend passes using a limited-time discount code, down from higher previously advertised prices.

Rock The Country and Patriots Day Freedom Fest are separate events with different organizers and ticketing structures, so the pricing moves should not be treated as evidence of the same underlying demand conditions. In the case of Freedom Fest, Deters has specifically attributed the cancellation to the failure of its unusual VIP-financed model rather than sales of traditional general-admission inventory.
