Sphere and Disguise to Develop New Video Technology for Live Events

Sphere Entertainment and visual technology company Disguise announced a multi-year partnership Wednesday to develop video tools for Sphere’s live productions and planned expansion.

Disguise has worked with Sphere since the Las Vegas venue opened in 2023. Its media servers and software help process, synchronize and play back visual content in real time for residencies and corporate events. The new agreement extends that work into the development of technology and production workflows designed specifically for Sphere.

“Every artist who has performed at Sphere has benefited from Disguise’s technology, and we’re looking forward to developing future iterations of immersive productions to support our long-term vision of offering these experiences to audiences in new Sphere venues around the world,” said Ryan Dolan, Sphere’s executive vice president and head of event and interactive technology.

The agreement makes Disguise’s role in Sphere productions a longer-term development partnership. Beyond running content during an event, the companies will work on the systems and processes used to prepare and deliver that content. 

Faster playback capabilities could give production teams more flexibility as they build visual sequences for the venue, though the companies have not detailed how the planned improvements will work.

Disguise provides visual technology for live events, location-based entertainment and virtual production. CEO Fernando Küfer said the partnership builds on three years of work with Sphere and will focus on expanding the venue’s video capabilities.

“When an artist imagines something the world has never seen, they should be able to reach for it and know the system can deliver,” Küfer said.
